Throughout his career, Rob has sought to engage with the big challenges facing our communities and the cities they inhabit. He has reframed our universities as hubs of innovation, knowledge, and employment in Plan Melbourne, leveraging their aggregated talent and strategic geography to transform and deliver positive social, economic and educational impact. In turn he has led the revisioning and curated the implementation of campus masterplans that have earned clients’ multiple awards, rising global rankings and cemented MGS as the leading Australian Design Practice for University masterplanning.


His affordable housing work over 3 decades has been notable in its breadth and impact. It has ranged from important policy development. committee and board roles in leading Community Housing Organisations and Government, to impactful award winning and replicable housing projects. These projects, now the benchmarks of excellence in the sector, have included the successful masterplans for the Forensic Mental Health Campus at Yarra Bend and the State’s largest Housing estate in North Richmond North Richmond, and award-winning affordable housing projects including Ozanam House, Woodstock Rooming House and the Melbourne Drill Hall.
